Trio Laurus – In the Company of Haydn
Trio Laurus brings three Haydn trios from 1789 to a Sunday matinee in the foyer of Centar Gervais, and entry is free.
The trio is Jelena Tihomirović (piano), Metod Sironić (flute) and Giovanni Genovese (cello). They play Haydn's trios for flute, cello and piano in G major, D major and F major (Hob. XV:15, 16 and 17), all written in 1789.
The concert also includes a talk on Joseph Haydn's life, from poor street musician in Vienna to court Kapellmeister for the Esterházy family, led by Metod Sironić and Jelena Tihomirović. It is part of Festival Opatija's Opatija Music Matinees series.
Entry is free, but the organiser has not said whether tickets need to be collected in advance. The day before, cellist Giovanni Genovese also plays with the Kamov Trio in the foyer of Rijeka's national theatre. For more, see our guide to free nights out in Rijeka and Kvarner.
