Opatija's Ljetna pozornica is an open-air theatre in Angiolina Park, set on a green headland right at the water's edge, roughly midway between the Lungomare promenade and the town centre. With around 2,500 seats — and up to 5,000 including standing room — it is the largest concert stage on the Kvarner coast, and in summer it is also the nearest big open-air venue to Rijeka: fifteen kilometres and about half an hour by bus.
The programme is run by Festival Opatija and fills the whole summer: major Croatian and international concerts, theatre, charity and klapa evenings, a documentary film festival, and open-air cinema on almost every other night. Concerts generally start at 21:00, once the heat drops and the sea behind the stage has gone dark — part of the experience no indoor hall can match.

Open-air cinema
On nights without a concert the Ljetna pozornica works as an open-air cinema, screening almost every evening through July, August and early September — premieres, dubbed animated films for kids, and later titles for grown-ups. Screening tickets are sold through Mojekarte.hr and at the venue box office, and the film schedule is published weekly in the official Festival Opatija programme.
Getting there from Rijeka
By bus: Autotrolej line 32 (Rijeka – Opatija – Lovran – Mošćenička Draga) runs all day and late into the night in the summer timetable; the ride from Rijeka's Jelačić Square takes roughly half an hour. By car: 15 km via the Rijeka bypass or the old coastal road past Preluk, about 20 minutes — but expect summer traffic, and note that parking in central Opatija is limited and paid. After a concert everyone heads for the last bus back to Rijeka, so check the line 32 timetable before you set off.
