Svjetlarna Lovran light festival
On November 14, the sixth Svjetlarna turns Lovran's old town into a stage for light, music and projections. This year's motto is “One town. A new view.”
On Trg sv. Jurja, animations follow the outlines of the facades and the bell tower, while galleries and installations open new spaces for art. The evenings are created by artists, students and collaborators, with partners the Municipality of Lovran, the Lovran Tourist Board, the Kvarner Tourist Board and the Academy of Applied Arts of the University of Rijeka.
Svjetlarna grew out of the Susjedstvo Lovran cultural programme of Rijeka 2020 – European Capital of Culture. In 2021, Academy of Applied Arts students created light environments at Galerija Laurus; 2022 brought the first mapping of Trg sv. Jurja; in 2023 the festival grew to two student evenings; 2024 added an exhibition at Laurus and interactive installations in Park hrvatskih branitelja; and in 2025 a student spectacle ran three evening projections from Trg sv. Jurja to Park hrvatskih branitelja.
